Collection Guidelines

• Place refuse bins at the curb by 6:00 AM on collection day
• Bag all waste securely to prevent scattering
• Do not overfill bins - lids must close properly
• Keep bins away from obstacles and vehicles

Recycling Program

We accept separated recyclables including paper, plastic, glass, and metal. Please rinse containers and place in separate bags clearly marked "RECYCLING". Collection occurs on the first Wednesday of each month.

Central Wards (1-12)

Collection Days: Mondays and Thursdays

Time: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Includes: Nyamajura, Mtanda, Odzi Commercial, Chimoio, Dora areas

Northern Wards (13-24)

Collection Days: Tuesdays and Fridays

Time: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Includes: Rowa, Chitakatira, Mafararikwa, Takarwa areas

Southern Wards (25-36)

Collection Days: Wednesdays and Saturdays

Time: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Includes: Kugarisana, Mafararikwa B, Munyoro, Vumba areas

Refuse Collection FAQs

What time should I put out my refuse bins?

Refuse bins should be placed at the collection point by 6:00 AM on your scheduled collection day. Please ensure bins are accessible and not obstructed by vehicles or other objects.

What items are not accepted in regular collection?

We cannot accept hazardous materials, chemicals, medical waste, batteries, or electronic waste in regular collections. These items require special disposal arrangements. Please contact our office for proper disposal methods.

What if my collection was missed?

If your collection was missed, please contact our refuse collection hotline at (020) 2064737 within 24 hours. We will arrange for a special collection or add your address to the next day's route.

How can I get a new refuse bin?

New refuse bins can be requested by visiting our offices or calling the environmental services department. There may be a fee for additional bins, and proof of residence is required.
